Reviews

Wendy

Part of the incredibly popular Little People, Big Dreams series, this beautiful book tells the story of Pablo Picasso who spent his life trying to master the art of painting like a child. His path to becoming the visionary artist he is now regarded as is told from his early days where he drew before he talked, through art school and his 'blue period', which he used to indicate his sadness at the loss of his friend, Carles. It explores how he created the Cubist movement with his friend Georges and how his artwork became a moving anti-war symbol with his celebrated piece depicting the destruction of the town of Guernica.

The illustrations in this book are, as expected, bright and engaging and very much in the style of Picasso. His life story is simply told and is accessible for younger readers. Perfect for the classroom or a school library or a good gift for any budding artist; this biography is a joy to behold from cover to cover.
