This high action adventure has drama on each page, and it doesn't stop until the last one; and even then it leaves you wanting more... Caledonia Styx is the Captain of the Mors Navis, she sails the seas with her all female crew with vengeance on her mind. Four years previously the ship belonged to her parents under a different name, Ghost. Caledonia came to be the Captain of the ship after a brutal attack on her family by corrupt warlord Aric Athair and his bloodthirsty army of Bullets, who rule the seas. She blames the death of her parents, brother and the rest of the crew on herself, as she let her guard down. She wants that Bullet, she wants him dead and she plans to kill him with his own knife. During an attack on a bow boat, Pisces is injured and captured by a crew of Bullets, only to be rescued and returned to Caledonia by one of their own. Even though this boy saved her friend's life, she has vowed to show any Bullet no mercy. She has an impossible choice to make, could he help them or destroy them all? Seafire is not just a story of loyalty, trust, love, togetherness but one of determination, courage and heartbreaking decisions. It's also a story of survival. Seafire has 394 pages which are suitable for 13+ readers. The chapters are as fast-paced as the action, which never loses pace, leaving the reader breathless; making this story great for confident and less confident readers. I also believe it would be a good book for intervention group reading or book clubs. A must read if you like your fantasy adventures on the high seas and very strong, and very likeable female characters. 300 pages / Ages 13+ / Reviewed by Linda Brown, school librarian
