If you love Shifty and Sam, pack your suitcase and get on board the Pawrient Express for Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam: Train Trouble, a new adventure with these humorous characters. What a delight to receive a copy of this brilliant new book, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Shifty and Sam. These canine heroes travel as bakers and are soon alerted to trouble on their train travelling to Venice. They quickly swing into action and realise that Kitty Le Claw has something to do with this, as she escapes with a huge bag of SWAG.

This delightful rhyming text engages the reader immediately in this fast moving adventure and is clever and witty and full of fun! The illustrations by Steven Lenton are exquisite with SO much detail to explore and talk about. This is a must to add to the collection and the end page hints that there will be another wonderful Shifty McGifty story. Hurray!!

Who can believe that Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam have been up to their rhyming antics for 10 years! They have turned away from their days as 'bumbling robbers' and become bakers. So, when Shifty and Sam are asked to bake on board the Pawrient Express, travelling to Venice for Carnival night, they couldn't refuse. Who could have guessed that they would find themselves caught up in a robbery! A sneaky thief has stolen the posh passengers' gems and she looks very familiar. The doggy detectives are hot on her tail, but can they unmask that kitty-cat criminal and save the day?

Tracey and Steven have done it again; Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam: Train Trouble is an absolute master class in rhyming adventures for children. You are glued to the pages through the use of language and detailed pictures. You will want to know what happens next.

This book could easily be used as a bed time story, story time book in a KS1 or lower KS2 class, a study text for English or a guided reading book. Shifty and Sam are currently some of my favourite children's book characters and I cannot wait to read the next one.
