Snakes on a Train is a children's picture book about a group of snakes that go on a journey on a train. The book is colourful, rhymes, and has short sentences as well as ones with repeated refrains which our younger Nursery children enjoyed joining in with.
The illustrations are high impact and have simple concrete colours and silhouettes the simplicity of which draws in the younger children. This simplicity meant there was lots of additional opportunities to discuss the colours and shapes in the story. We all enjoyed joining in with the hissing of the snakes and the train. I would recommend this book for pre-schoolers.
