I haven't found a Holly Webb book yet that the children in my class don't love! The Dawn Seal follows Lissa who is spending the summer on her Dad's houseboat. As she get lonelier and lonelier while her dad is busy working, she starts to explore her surroundings looking for some company. Lissa comes across a young seal pup who looks lost. She then spends time trying to help the seal find its way home with plenty of adventures along the way!
Children will love this adventurous story with the interesting dynamic between Lissa and her dad as well as between Lissa, the seal pup and her friends. The book includes some illustrations but is moving towards more advanced early readers with a higher ratio of text and slightly longer chapters. A great adventure about family, friendship and the bond you can build with animals!
