Misha and Ziggy, the magical twins, are back in their second Wild Magic adventure, Journey of the Lost Elephant. Misha can talk to animals and Ziggy can shapeshift into animals and this adventure takes them to India. Their dad is filming elephants, and the twins help to find and reunite a baby elephant with its herd.
There is something very sweet and likeable about these books, which combine fascinating facts and places with a fun story. The heavily illustrated format makes them an easy read for newly independent readers and the whole text is fun, full of different fonts and facts.
The format of having a wildlife presenter for a father allows the children to go to amazing places and search out the animals without arousing suspicion. This is a really entertaining format and the illustrations by Emma McCann keep that fun factor going. The font changes add to the fun, though I am not always sure what they signify.
Readers of 6+ years will enjoy this entertaining story and animal fans will be particularly gripped by the facts at the end of the book - there's lots here that I didn't know; a really fun way of learning!
