Reviews

Nicola

The Shop of Impossible Ice Creams is fantastic! I could leave the review there actually as it really is that good but I feel I should explain why. It is laugh out loud funny and I mean that, I did laugh out loud in public several times to the point that I had to share what I was reading with some interested onlookers. It's so much more than that though, there's real heart in here too.

Limpet, his mum and his younger sister move and he has to start a new school. Alongside this his mother wants to open an ice cream shop selling weird flavours, such as mushroom and tuna, this on its own would be bad enough but Mr Fluffy, who owns the other ice cream shop, vows to destroy them. Limpet vows to fight back and save his mum and their shop.

Not easy when you're only a child and full of your own worries. Limpet is a really lovely character; I felt very protective of him but I also really, genuinely liked him. I'm sad to have to say goodbye to him on the last page but very glad to have met him. This will be a really popular LKS2 book!
