Tiny Little Rocket is a beautiful and inspiring picture book. David Fickling and Richard Collingridge have created a text that that somehow shares information as well as taking you on a narrative journey. This book is a joy to read and share as you travel through our solar system. The rhyming narrative draws you in wonderfully as you feel like you are piloting the ship too. The interactive nature of the text adds to the experience as you navigate the red and silver ship past the golden sun, huge meteors and out in the deep space.

As much as the narrative is a joy to read, the illustrations really bring the book to life. The importance of them is seen in the way the font size of the text is relatively small. This allows your eye to concentrate on the pages as artwork.

This text would be the perfect accompaniment to a school topic on space or even transport. Children within EYFS and KS1 would easily be drawn into the glory of the text....especially with the bonus of a fold out final page. A real treat to read.
