Reviews

Laura

Another laugh-out-loud comic book with Toby and his troublesome pixies! This is absolutely brilliant, and is guaranteed to delight any reader from the very young to the much older! As I read this book, I was giggling away, and soon found myself with a nine-year-old reading over my shoulder!

In book one, Toby and the Pixies: Worst King Ever, Toby is unexpectantly, and rather reluctantly, crowned King of the Pixies (found at the bottom of his garden). In this second book, the pixies continue to create absolute chaos in Toby's life by ignoring his very clear demands to stay at home and not follow him to school, and by trying with the very best of intentions to help him out, whilst in fact making things much much worse for him...

As well as the danger of his school peers finding out about the pixies, there's an evil pixie trying to destroy Toby and take the Pixie King throne. Evil Sugarsnap uses slime as her weapon of choice, and launches an attack in the school corridors....

Toby and the Pixies: Best Frenemies is truly a delight, full of ludicrous laughs, embarrassing events, and a whole lot of pixie mischief! Brilliantly illustrated, the comic strip shows every emotion and bit of trickery in bright, fun images. I loved it and I think any graphic novel lover will too! For fans of the Phoenix comic who will be familiar with Toby and the Pixies already, plus kids that like Bunny vs Monkey and Dogman books.
