When Wave Warrior spots Codzilla dragging his net along the seabed, she is quick to confront him. After all, these are protected waters! Through her grit and persistence Wave Warrior stops Codzilla in his foamy wake and saves the ocean animals.
This title is based on the real-life Greenpeace ship, Rainbow Warrior, and will contain a non-fiction endmatter spread about fishing produced in collaboration with Greenpeace.

Wave Warrior and the Reef Rescue is part of The Green Machines books and written in collaboration with Greenpeace with an important message about the threat of industrial fishing on planet Earth.
Wave Warrior glides through the sea surrounded by porpoises, seagulls and creatures of the deep until she spots Codzilla, fishing in the ocean sanctuary and ignoring the rules of the sea. Codzilla's net is filled with beautiful creatures who have lost their freedom and are in danger. Wave Warrior knows this is not right and, with the help of some friends, manages to free the creatures and set up better protection on Hope Reef.
This book is a great book to use to support conservation, fishing and care for our seas and oceans. It also explores that when we all work together, like Wave Warrior and her friends, we can take action and make a difference.
This book can also be used as a grammar tool exploring the past tense and action words such as glided, soared, surfed etc. The phrase "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again" could be explored in the context of caring for our world and sustainability with children sharing their ideas about how they could be like Wave Warrior in their own communities.
This book was shared with a class of 6-7 year olds who gave it 5 stars!
