This is a good book that attacks fact sharing from an informal direction.... 'Would you rather...?', a game I'm sure many of us have played at one stage or another! Great for sparking discussion with children, this book poses many dilemmas for them to ponder over - what are the benefits of sharing a picnic with a tiger shark or having a take-away with a basking shark? Children can suggest their answers and then turn the page to find out more specific details and facts about the lifestyles of a variety of different sharks. This book would be good for getting children interested and animated during a topic on sharks, sharing with a child on a one-to-one level, or devouring in a small group where children will 'bounce' off each other - a great, versatile book! If your child enjoys fiction books, they'll enjoy this more informal approach - and if your child doesn't, this is a great place to start a passion for them!! It doesn't have the usual 'features' of a non-fiction text (contents page, index, glossary etc) but is easy to comprehend and the language is accessible, and supported by colourful, cartoon-like illustrations. 24 pages / Ages 5+ / Reviewed by Lizi Coombs, teacher.
