The Great Nut Hunt is the wonderful new rhyming book by the talented author Karl Newson and illustrator Nia Havilliard and it does not disappoint. It's Autumn and Squirrel is busy collecting nuts until his home is filled up so he has an idea to hide them away. The beautiful illustrations show the reader where Squirrel hides his nuts by the light of a star. However after a sleep Squirrel wakes and has forgotten where his nuts are! He approaches Bear, Owl and Beaver - do they have his hidden nuts? Can they help Squirrel to find them?
This is a beautiful book with a clever rhyming text which can be explored by young children who could predict the final words. A lovely book of kindness and friendship with the most delightful pictures of Squirrel and his friends.
This would be a lovely book to share in Autumn as it explores hibernation in a hilarious way, helping children understand this process and how nature changes and the cycle of life. It also explores being friends and how sometimes a friend can make a bad choice but with an apology, friends can be friends again and help each other! The Great Nut Hunt is a great book! Thank you Karl and Nia!!
