How Soon Should I Start to Read to My Child?

Alison David, Consumer Insights Director at publisher Farshore, continues her series where she provides advice to families on encouraging reading for pleasure.

In this short video, Alison David tells us why it's never too early to start reading to your child in helping develop a love of stories and reading:
1. Research shows that a child who is read to from an early age will have heard hundreds of thousands of new words compared to a child who hasn't been read to;
2. Reading with small children can have positive benefits in terms of family time;
3. In reading to children from an early age, you are encouraging a love of stories that will see them through the tricky 'learning to read' period when they start school.
