Roald Dahl Day on 13 September is celebrating Matilda and bravery - a party pack is available for schools to download and BBC Teach will make an interactive Roald Dahl lesson available.

The party pack includes invitation templates, dress-up tips, craft activities, lesson resources, stickers, posters and a competition to create 'Matilda's New Classmate' and win tickets to the RSC's Matilda the Musical. There is also a dedicated digital pack for pre-schools. BBC Teach will show an interactive lesson and digital event aimed at pupils aged 7-11 years, which will be available from 13th September. The 35-minute literacy programme will feature extracts from Roald Dahl texts read by famous faces including Michael Palin, Bella Ramsey and Eni Aluko, and encourage pupils to think about characterisation, storytelling and persuasive writing. Publisher Puffin Books has also created a new book, Roald Dahl's How to be Brave, which the publisher says celebrates the diverse forms of bravery, inspired by the characters of Roald Dahl's Matilda. It includes extracts and activities and is published on 5th September 5th. Children can of course also dress up on the day as their favourite Roald Dahl characters, and help to raise funds for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, which helps seriously ill children by funding specialist children's nurses and providing assistance to families in financial hardship.
