Who Will You Be When You Grow Up? is part of the Let's Talk series and is a fun way to encourage discussions and to support children in their understanding of the world.
This book begins with a question "Who will you be when you grow up?" and then takes the reader on so many options about life and growing up such as "where will you live?", "what might you be good at?" and much more, weaving through all the opportunities that are available and a few more too!
This book is NOT just about jobs, it is about much more, in fact it is about LIFE!! Each sub question has a double page spread with detailed illustrations, speech bubbles, more questions and lots of chances to talk and discuss.
This book is ideal for Key Stage One (ages 5+), supporting oracy and giving young children a platform to take part in important discussions about their lives, emotions and wellbeing. The illustrations are diverse and inclusive and demonstrate that we can all have dreams and opportunities; children will be able to see these for themselves through the book which is SO important.
Children will also learn new vocabulary such as 'compliment' and learn how to give and accept these with their family and friends. Children will love reading this double spread page and can also think of their own compliments to share with their friends in class.
This book could be shared over time and revisited many times as there is so much to share and discuss. There are great learning options for children to think and write about, including what makes them happy and why.
The detailed notes at the back of the book help to support teachers, parents and carers when navigating this book and these topics. A great book which children will want to read over and over again!
