Synopsis
Join a school where children can change into animals! A thrilling new magical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Kitty books.
Animagicals are children born with the power to change into an animal. They can change into any animal and they need help controlling their ability until they find their true form - the animal they are destined to be. Will they fly like an eagle, leap like a leopard or skulk like a fox? Come and join them at Wild Haven, a magical school set up to protect and train animagicals in a magical forest hidden from the ordinary world.
Mia can hardly believe it when she discovers she is an animagical. She's so pleased to join the magical school where she'll be helped to control her gift - especially because she can't stop turning into a mouse. Will that be her true form forever? Or is there something more exciting in store? Mia can't wait to find out. Adventure awaits...

Mia's Tiger is the first in the amazing Animalgicals series by Paula Harrison. This is the perfect choice for any child who loves, animals, nature and adventure. Most would dream of the opportunity to change into an animal but the one of the problems the pupils at Wild Haven school face is harnessing their magical powers to ensure they can use them at the optimum moments.
This wonderful story has a clear progression and develops sensitively throughout. The reader will quickly become invested in the characters from the very first chapter. The black and white illustrations are carefully considered and detailed, adding to the excitement and pace of the adventure. The chapters have been written with care focusing on length, variety of sentence structures and vocabulary to allow the reader to continue to develop their skills whist being completely emersed in the narrative.
Animagicals: Mia's Tiger is a beautiful story that would be perfect to be a focused text for group reading or a story to share with a class in instalments. This would allow discussion time and the opportunity for predictions. I am sure it would be a very popular addition to any book corner or library. Hopefully is the first in a series.
