A lovely read! I particularly enjoyed how we were presented with the final scenario, and then invited to step back in time to see how Beth ended up...'surrounded by crocodiles, holding a briefcase full of fish fingers...'. I wonder if the author was influenced by Pulp Fiction?! I found that the book flowed really well, and I think the use of illustrations and no chapters was an aid to this. The only criticism I would have is that it seemed a little forced in places, with Beth's flights of fancy not ringing true with my experience of children that age. But then who knows what really goes on in someone else's head? And whether 'true to life' or not, I think Beth and her adventures will delight many readers, young and old. 224 pages / Ages 7+ / Reviewed by Rachael Salmon
