In a few words the foreword to this book sets the scene for this inspirational non-fiction picture book. Do Something for Someone Else showcases incredible projects undertaken by young activists from around the world, who recognised an injustice and did what they could to improve the lives of those affected.

Each double-page spread focuses on a different enterprise and explores what prompted the children to address this issue. The impact of their actions is discussed and at the end of the book there are practical suggestions as to how readers can make a difference themselves. There is also a useful list of websites for further independent reading and research.

The book features a diverse range of ventures, from fundraising to 'get children reading' stories featuring black characters, to campaigning for accessibility on behalf of disabled people. Short paragraphs of simple text are interwoven into the colourful, full-page illustrations, making the book visually appealing and interesting for the Key Stage Two reader.

This is a thought-provoking book that has linked well into our teaching of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It has shown our Key Stage 2 pupils that children can make a difference and has increased their motivation into wanting to make a change; now they have seen that children all over the world can have a voice that is heard.
