Synopsis

The fifth book in a thrilling, magical, and action-packed new fantasy series, illustrated throughout and perfect for 7-9 year olds!

In the land of Draconis, there are no dragons.  Once, there were. Once, humans and dragons were friends, and created the great city of Rivven together.  But then came the Dragon Storm, and the dragons retreated from the world of humans.  To the men and women of Draconis, they became legends and myth.

When dragonseer Kai and his dragon Boneshadow are summoned to the palace to work for the King, they decide to secretly search for a dragon they believe is hiding there. But during the search, Kai comes into contact with a mysterious potion. It makes him more powerful, and more confident...  But is that all?  As he uncovers the secrets of the palace, and discovers who has been working against the dragonseers, Kai begins to change - and soon he's in danger of losing his friends... and even Boneshadow herself.

An exciting new fantasy series from the highly acclaimed author of Orion Lost, brilliantly illustrated throughout, and perfect for fans of Beast Quest and How to Train your Dragon.

Reviews

Lauren

Kai and Boneshadow is another instalment from the Dragon Storm series. In this book we look in to the story of Kai and his dragon, Boneshadow. Boneshadow is yet to discover what his power is and Kai is the 'nice one' in the dragonseer camp. After the children are called into the palace to help the King, things start to unravel and the discovery of a dragon under the castle is set to test Kai and his 'niceness'.

In the Dragon storm series, each book focuses on a different child and their dragon; it also looks into challenges the children may face and tests them as people. In this book the themes of right and wrong, truthfulness and friendship, are tested. These can be great discussion points and used with children.

The stories are full of action, yet simple for them to follow and are a great independent read for slightly older children. As a class we have read a few of these books now and the children love them. They are great for both boys and girls and they like that each book focuses on a character and their dragon.

The way in which this book ends is fantastic and can't wait to see if another is coming soon! I look forward to adding this one to the class bookshelf and see what the children think as they are already big Dragon Storm fans.
