Synopsis
Annie and Lee once dreamed of rebuilding their city, but as war rages on two fronts, they must now fight to save it or watch it crumble into ash.
In New Pythos, Griff stands trial for treason. His fate seems sealed, but not everyone wants to see him fall. Allies on both sides are scheming to save him, though their plans could cost them dearly.
Back in Callipolis, Annie faces her greatest challenge yet: uniting a divided city against a powerful enemy. With famine spreading and the shadow of the triarchy looming, she must prove she's the leader her people need - before it's too late.
For Lee, revolution is no longer just about dragons and fire. He faces a battle of wits with those who see Callipolis's struggle as an opportunity to seize power. To protect the city, and the people he loves, he'll have to balance his ideals with the hard realities of war.
As enemies close in from every side, Annie and Lee will have to make impossible choices. Will they save their city, even if it means losing each other? Or will the flames of rebellion destroy everything they've fought to protect?
An electrifying conclusion to the trilogy, this final chapter is a story of hope, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bonds that define us - even in the face of fire.

War has come to Callipolis and enemies are closing in. Griff is on death row in Norcia and it seems that no one is in a position to save him. Lee is unwittingly caught up in revolution and Annie struggles to become the leader everyone needs.
Things are very dire and dark indeed and it is clear the final battle has begun. Furysong is the third and final book in the series and Rosaria Munda has really got into her stride. The reader knows the characters and follows their stories with bated breath.
Told from four points of view, this is a skilful thing to do. All the characters from the previous books have returned and there are a few new ones. The villains are very scary indeed and the dragons even more marvellous. By this point, the reader is so invested in their stories that it is difficult to see the tragedies and triumphs unfolding.
It is rare that I think a third book is better than the first, but this is the case with Furysong. I was on the edge of my seat, shouting at the characters (in my head of course) and it was like watching a film, where you are willing the characters to make different choices!
Dealing with some quite adult themes as well as death on a large scale, this is a story very firmly into YA. I am a fan of dragons, and these were glorious examples, and I love fantasy. I do think this book makes you think about what happens after revolution and how the masses might react to events. Is there such a thing as a perfect revolution? Of course not - they are naturally messy. Now I am looking forward to seeing what Rosaria Munda does next, because it seems bound to be interesting!
