Once upon a time a baby was lost in a shipwreck and saved by her faithful companion, Ponky the Donkey. With nothing but a blanket and a note stating that this baby is the most important person in the world, should never leave safety and be kept within walls that are built higher, bigger and sturdier each year. Of course, Georgia as she grows knows nothing of this and cannot understand why she is kept so contained; she has grown up into an adventurous, brave young lady with an inherent love of stories.

Desperate to escape, she builds a flying machine and her and Ponky set off. Unfortunately, things do not go to plan. She meets characters who are not as they seem and a tragedy happens along the way that makes her re-evaluate everything she knows about herself. She discovers who she really is and the power she wields and fights for everything that should be hers.

Georgia and the Edge of the World is a really quick and easy read, the graphic novel style writing makes it attractive to children that love stories but aren't yet at the point of reading full novels. I would recommend this to children that like humour, strong powerful leading characters and adventure.
