Hello Summer is the third in a magical new illustrated children's picture book series about friendship, feelings and the seasons. Through this series, we meet four magical friends who control the seasons. Today, the sun is shining and the Little Seasons (our intrepid band of fairy friends) are on their way to the beach. But Summer is feeling hot and bothered….first their picnic is overran by a hoard of hungry creatures, then their game of catch is ruined by a popped ball and to rub salt in the wounds, their greatest ever sandcastle is washed away by the tide.

Everything is going wrong and Summer begins to find her emotions getting the better of her. Luckily, the rest of the Little Seasons are on hand to support Summer through managing her feelings of anger and frustration and in doing so, demonstrate their own powerful ability of compassion.

In a world where there is a huge focus on demonstrating kindness and empathy towards each other, this text acts as a worthy avenue into this thinking. It prompts good discussions around understanding others' emotions and what to do to support your friends. I look forward to seeing the final instalment, Hello Winter, later this year.
