Synopsis

A monster has broken into Jack's garden and stolen his favourite yellow underpants. The cheek! Jack sees his chance to flex his new fairy skills and embark on his first ever solo mission. Unfortunately, in chasing the creature across town and leaving a trail of chaos in his wake, Jack breaks every rule in the fairy rule book (you must keep the magical kingdom a secret from humans, no one can know you are really a fairy, and you must NEVER EVER cause a lorry to crash into a take-out restaurant shop, creating a ketchup spillage across the high street whilst in pursuit of a magical creature who has your pants).

Will Jack get his wand back, track down the monster, and make everything right again before he's kicked out of the magical kingdom for good?

A monster has broken into Jack's garden and stolen his favourite yellow underpants.  Jack sees his chance to embark on his first ever solo mission.  Unfortunately, he leaves a trail of chaos in his wake, breaking every rule in the fairy rule book, and now he's the fairy equivalent of grounded. Can he make everything right again before he's kicked out of the magical kingdom for good?

Jack the Fairy: The Night Bigfoot Stole my Pants is a wonderful adventure filled with imaginative characters doing things that most children will identify with such as being angry when their things are taken and spilling ketchup! The carefully created illustrations add to the pace and context of the drama as the story moves along at a good pace.

This is going to be a firm favourite as even the mention of pants is funny; put that with the expertly written story and this is a definite hit.  At the back of the book is a double page spread of Magic Fact Files. Here Tom goes through the strengths and weaknesses of the magical elements of the story: Faries; Bigfoot; magic underpants and Trolls.  In the classroom, children could use this to help formulate their own story, inspire art or give an example which they could use with characters from different stories.  The 'meet the characters' section is also a very useful addition to refer to as you are reading the story, particularly if you are using this as a focus text. I look forward to reading about Jack's next adventure.
