Reviews

Wendy

Those of us who were children in the 1980's will remember the TV programme 'Why Don't You' telling us to 'switch off the TV and go and do something less boring instead'. This book is a brilliant set of suggestions to do just that.

Let's Go Outside! is a large, good quality picture book filled with gorgeous illustrations that show children having fun outside, in a variety of seasons and in all different kinds of weather conditions. 'Let's climb really big hills!' and 'Let's make the best den in the whole wide world!' are some of the suggestions on double page spreads that are filled with beautiful pictures. At the end of the book there is more text, for older children or an adult to read that talks about seasons and senses and weather and asks some thoughtful, open-ended questions for the children to answer such as 'What would you wear for a windy walk in the woods?'.

This book would make a lovely birthday present for a 5, 6 or 7-year-old, or an addition to a bedroom, classroom or school library that is sure to become a firm favourite. The short sentences on each page make it accessible for our youngest readers and the pictures are so detailed they will spot something new every time they open the book. Just a delight!
