Reviews

Jessica

I was delighted to see a new series brought to us by Nosy Crow from the hugely popular children's writer Camilla Reid. She has already written the very successful 'Peekaboo' interactive baby series as well as the various adventures of 'Pip and Posy'.

In Look, it's Moo Moo Cow, we are immersed in a multi-sensory experience as we are introduced to the farmyard animals: Baa Baa Sheep, Cluck Cluck Hen, Oink Oink Pig and Moo Moo Cow. Our little ones are encouraged to learn and repeat the noises the animals make to develop their listening and speaking skills. Their fine motor skills are challenged too as they use a pincer grip to lift the felt flaps and find the smaller creatures hiding beneath. The show-stopper is the collage illustrations by Clare Youngs. We are treated to bold and contrasting patterns on the bodies of each animal with the element of foil highlights to add yet more detail for the eye to admire. Not only that, but the foil detail provides a silky and bumpy texture as our babies reach out and run their hands along it. The surprising mirrored ending is a great touch too!

A series to be examined and pored over, I look forward to immersing baby and me in 'Look, it's Woof Woof Dog', 'Look, it's Twit Twoo Owl' and 'Look, it’s Roar Roar Lion'.
