Lucy

This book contains three short stories including Magnificent Mabel and the Rabbit Riot, Magnificent Mabel and the Burglar Tooth Fairy and the Pixie Playdate. All three stories are about Mabel Chase, who is quite a character! She is growing up quickly and has quite an interesting outlook on the world. Her main problem is that she absolutely loves animals but she thinks life is entirely unfair because her mum and dad say that she isn't allowed a pet, even though so many people in her class have one! All three stories include simple illustrations which help to bring the story to life. It is written in quite a large font, meaning each story is relatively short - enough text to keep them interesting but manageable for younger readers. The stories are written with a fantastic humour which will appeal to young children and draw them in to wanting to read on! 128 pages / Ages 7+ / Reviewed by Lucy Newton, teacher
