Reviews
Sue
Nik-Nak Bunny can be anything she wants to be and today she has decided to be a train driver. The first page of each book in this series shows the 'magic hat' and as children turn the wheel, they see what Nik-Nak Bunny has decided to be that day.
The same wheel shows the steam rising from the train's chimney on the front cover as Nik-Nak drives the train. Three wheels throughout the book allow readers to interact with the story on six different pages. Dips along the edges of the wheel make it easier for little fingers to move them, developing fine motor skills and independent 'reading'.
Esme, my little reading friend, is growing up quickly and it has been a real privilege to watch her reading development. She 'babbles' to herself when interacting with books independently and is now strong enough to make the wheels move by herself, supported by this design feature. The colourful illustrations are full of details and gentle humour and the really robust, thick pages make the book perfect for repeated readings and the kind of attention which little readers pay to their favourite books.
