Lucy

Another great picture book from Camilla Reid! Peekaboo Dog is filled with brightly coloured pictures and clear, bold text. Each page has a lever for babies to move which generates another picture or flap to appear. These all involve young children moving their fingers in different directions, which is a fantastic way to develop early fine motor skills. It also repeats the word 'peekaboo' on each page, as a different character or animal appears; repetition is a great way for children to learn new words, eventually learning how to read and say them for themselves.

My baby loves sliding the levers to allow the characters to pop out at him. He also loves dogs, so I can imagine as he gets a little bit older, he will enjoy looking at all of the pictures and making connections between all of the things he sees in the real life dog world such as wagging tails and dogs eating from their bowls. We particularly enjoyed the picture of the three dogs where you can wag one of their tails if you move the lever!
