Reviews
Kyle
Football Superstars is a new series of biographies about the superstars from the world of football. Created by the duo of Simon Mugford and Dan Green, these texts are the perfect addition to any young football fan's library.
Despite being over 100 pages in length, the texts are easily read in no time at all. The flow of the books are perfect and there is enough information on each page to keep readers engaged and eager to see what is next to learn about their idols. I loved the comic styling to them, all thanks to the artistic talents of Dan Green. Despite him not being a self proclaimed football fan, he has perfectly portrayed the players in the drawings and even relived iconic moments in their careers.
The information within the pages was accurate and was the right balance of well known information alongside new nuggets that all football fans would want to learn. What I enjoyed also was the timeline of the texts. Each book takes the reader from the very beginning of the footballers' lives, through all the debuts, transfers and successes and all the way up to the end of the 2019/20 season.
As a football fan, I really enjoyed these books and can see this being a really successful series. I feel that with the right permissions, the publishers and creative duo of Mugford and Green could have an opportunity to be in control of a chain of books that can grow and evolve as new superstars reveal themselves to the world.
I am looking forward to sharing these texts with some football mad children at my school and I feel these could be the touch paper that ignites a love of reading for them. A great gift for any young football fan.
