Two female treasure hunters. A sleeping prince. A hundred-year-old curse and one angry witch. The Bone Spindle has all of this, in this new pacey retelling of a classic fairy tale, with a unexpected twist...
Filore is a treasure hunter with a love for riddles but when she pricks her finger on a spindle, binding her to the sleeping prince Briar Rose, she finds herself stuck with the prince's ghost until she can break his curse. How can she achieve this, when she cannot even break the butterfly curse that her ex-partner left her with?
What she needs is a partner... Enter Shane, a warrior huntswoman. Shane couldn't care less about curses and ancient texts, instead she searches for riches. The two girls are a perfect partnership, or are they? With dark magic, witch hunters, nightmarish beasts and curses all standing in their way, will the unlikely pair find their way through the Forest of Thorns to where the sleeping prince is waiting?
This action-packed adventure is full of twists and turns and beautiful descriptive imagery. The author has created a world that has a history of magic and witches, good ones and bad! In the background to all of this are two slow-burning romances ( a m/f and a f/f ) and lots of light-hearted banter between the main characters, making the book totally engaging for 13+ readers. The Bone Spindle would also be a great choice for book clubs due to the many opportunities for discussion and further reading.
This is an easy recommendation as I really enjoyed it and I'm now delving back into this exciting world with book two, The Severed Thread.
