One of the first in a new series by Philip Ardagh - and with great illustrations by Rob Biddulph - The Pirate Captain's Cat stars Furry Purry Beancat, a loveable cat who finds a new adventure every time he wakes up. This really is a cat with nine lives - each of them an amazing new adventure!

You see Furry Purry Beancat is a time traveller, so each time he wakes up in a new life, he finds himself in a different period. In The Pirate Captain's Cat, he is of course on a sailing ship in the high seas, the beloved pet of the Captain.

When rival pirates climb aboard, it's up to Beancat and the friendly rats on board to help save his pirate friends, and the pirate treasure!

With its fast-paced storyline, well spaced text and lovely illustrations, this is an inspiring story for young readers gaining in confidence, or to share with children aged 5+.

As one of the first in the new series (look out for Railway Cat), it's good to know there are more high quality reads on the way for children.
