Yomi and the Power of the Yumboes is the second book in a fast-paced, fun, lively blend of modern mystery meets traditional African mythology.

This is an exciting, fresh contemporary adventure series packed with perilous and daring escapades by curious, investigative siblings Yomi and younger brother Kayode. The fantastic front cover and inside illustrations, again by Adam Douglas-Bagley, are pivotal to bringing a bold, energetic and warm-hearted adventure quest to life alongside the enjoyably energetic narrative.

Now they are important members of the Sacred Beast League, with a vital job to protect the past and the future of the Nkara - the many powerful Beasts of Africa, our two intrepid youngsters must again face down the feared, ferocious and cruel Beast Hunters Guild. In book two, it is the fate of the sacred spirits, the Yumboes, that lie in Yomi and Kayode's hands. These delicate yet powerful moon-bonded fairies are in immediate danger and have sought out the siblings for help.

The blending of the cultural importance of the mythical, sacred past of Africa with the celebration of African culture (the delicious foods, the traditions and tales) are a huge part of what makes these mystery adventure stories so delightfully unique and engaging.

This is a fantasy quest deeply rooted in exploring and expressing pride in the captivating history of a whole continent. As a tale for the younger independent reader, it is charming, fun and rich in magic and the joyous escapism of a plot where curious kids foil the evil intentions of villainous adults! A series that is set to entertain and enlighten.
