Grandma demands justice!*
*And also all the teacakes

A priceless artefact has been stolen in Russia - and Grandma Dangerous wants to find it. Nothing will stand in her way - not even some poisoned caviar, a prison break or a spot of contemporary dance. Can Ollie and Grandma return the treasure and get back home, before being caught by the politsiya? Or - worse - before Mum finds out?

Ollie adores his explorer grandma, but not for nothing does his mum call her 'Grandma Dangerous'. Fearless and eccentric, and not above telling the odd lie, she soon draws Ollie, his friend Piper and his posh and annoyingly polite and helpful cousin Thomas (not forgetting Rose the dog) into a madcap adventure involving a priceless stolen Faberge egg, a trip to snowy Russia in an engine-powered hot-air balloon and a prison break (plus some interesting food encounters along the way). This is a fast-paced and fun-packed adventure with an atypical setting, quirky characters and plenty of humour. The short chapters, amusing illustrations and eye-catching variations in font should make it appealing even to slightly reluctant readers. It is the second book in a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone, and is likely to send readers looking for the other Dangerous Grandma books. 288 pages / Age 7+ / Reviewed by Monika Davies, school librarian
