Reviews

Amanda

Paige Braddock has an amazing way of designing graphic novels which are engaging from the very first page. Her style of illustration is bold, bright and brilliant at capturing children's interest and imaginations.

At the start of Kitty Capers: A Peanut, Butter & Crackers Story, the character profiles and map allow the reader to start the story with a good understanding of the characters. Each page is carefully planned with a balance of text and quantity of images to ensure that it is inviting for the reader and that the stories fast pace continues throughout. The storyline is one which will be relatable to most children. Most people have been in the situation where you want what you do not have but then miss it when it has gone.

In school, this is the perfect book to encourage reading for pleasure for reluctant readers. It would be a lovely group reading book to develop discussions about plot development and use of language for maximum impact or the use of colour and illustration style.

This series is an absolute favourite in our school and there is regularly a waiting list for them. This fifth book will be no different; it is sure to be a firm favourite from the minute it hits the shelf.
