Synopsis

A fabulously winning story about a crocodile who will not be sidelined, from the extraordinary team behind There's a Tiger on the Train.

Elvis loves the circus life -
The thrills, the skills, the treats,
The wide-eyed crowds that cheer out loud,
The rows of polished seats.

BUT . . . Sidney, the ringmaster, only lets fluffy and feathery animals perform on stage. Can Elvis the crocodile show his STAR potential? Colour and charm pour out of every page of this stunningly illustrated and utterly heartwarming story.

The Ice Cream Crocodile is a delightful picture book which follows Elvis, a crocodile who dreams of performing in the circus. However, the ringmaster believes that only fluffy and feathery animals should be stars, so Elvis is left selling ice cream instead. Determined to prove himself, Elvis works hard and finds a way to show everyone his true talents.

I read this to my nephew and he really enjoyed this book because it has an important message about believing in yourself and not letting other people's opinions stop you from following your dreams. Elvis is a kind and determined character, and it was inspiring to see him keep trying even when things seemed unfair. The story also teaches readers about inclusion and judging people based on their abilities rather than their appearance.

The illustrations are full of energy and bring the circus setting to life and make the story even more enjoyable. We especially liked the pictures of Elvis serving ice cream and showing off his skills!
