Have you ever met a problem? They come in all shapes and sizes and can pop up at the most inconvenient times, But you should know some things about them that will help you make them disappear. This bright, colourful and one-of-a-kind book will encourage children (and grown ups) to find ways to manage their problems. Rachel Rooney has brought problems to life in such as way that children will be see their own as the creatures created in the book. Being able to 'see' these problems allows children to observe how they change, thanks to the strategies Rachel suggests. The rhyming flow of the story helps engage children further and the wonderfully simple illustrations go a long way to helping children realise that when a problem is shared, it isn't a problem anymore. In a modern era where children are being encouraged to be more open in talking, this books goes a long way to helping children realise the importance of not letting their problems fester away within them. I feel this book would be a great addition to any primary school and would be ideally within PSHE lessons. I think children would openly share their problems and could lead to children creating their own 'problem creatures'. Rachel Rooney, with the help of illustrator Zehra Hicks, has created a meaningful and purposeful text that I would whole hardheartedly recommend.
