I read This is Not A Dinosaur to a class of 30 Y2 children and they loved it as much as I did! I always love a book with rhyme and this one was no exception; it is also a book that can make children laugh. It has lovely illustrations and plenty of opportunities for discussion with the children about the different things and roles the dinosaur could become. The class especially loved the ending, which tugged at the heartstrings, and all sighed " Aaaaaah!" as I read the final page. Definitely one to read out loud in your classroom!

This is Not A Dinosaur is another great story written by Barry Timms. Barry likes the way that stories bring people together and this book did not disappoint. The book that is 'not' about a dinosaur....well maybe it is.

The children enjoyed the natural rhythm that this book has and they were soon able to pick up the pattern of the text and join in with the repeated refrains. The bright, colourful illustrations served as clues for the children, encouraging them to guess what amazing thing the dinosaur was going to be next. Of course they all liked the last one the best and joined in with the words at the end of the story 'you're mine-osaur!'

This funny story appealed to both the boys and the girls in the class - it is a great addition to both our dinosaur box but also our box of books about friendship. The children also enjoyed scanning the QR code after they had heard the story once so they could hear it over and over again. One not to be missed!
