Synopsis

'The crystal keeper gazed around him at the shards of impure crystal, glittering furiously on the floor, and shivered with a terrible sense of foreboding.' Twins, Victoria Stitch and Celestine, are denied their royal birth-right. Celestine accepts the decision with good grace, but Victoria Stitch is consumed with her obsession for power. The twins are like moonlight and sunshine - could it be possible to break free of the role you have been given, rewrite your story, and change your own destiny?

In Victoria Stitch: Bad and Glittering, two sisters are born of a royal diamond, a diamond that develops a flaw. What are the authorities to do? For Victoria Stitch and Celestine, this tiniest of impurities has stripped them of their claim to the throne. No longer deemed the rightful heirs to Queen Cassiopeia, they live their lives in a state of limbo: born of a diamond and therefore not adopted by a family, but born with a flaw and therefore not raised with the queen. For Celestine this is just the way things are, but for Victoria Stitch this is NOT how things should be.

Whilst all the other wistlings are preparing their apprenticeship letters for life after school, Victoria Stitch just alienates her peers by her outlandish comments about being the true heir. She waltzes around with her royal garb and pretend crown, treating others as if they are her subjects and not her friends. Her only friend is her twin sister Celestine...until one day she meets and befriends the solitary Ursuline.

Ursuline understands Victoria Stitch's need, Ursuline has a plan...and so begins an adventure of dark magic and daring deeds.

Harriet Muncaster creates a magical world that springs to life in all its gloriously twinkling detail. She broaches subjects of sibling rivalry, loneliness, dreams and desires as well as treachery, hope and trust all wrapped up in the wonderful world of the wisklings.
