Emily

Fans of The Nothing To See Here Hotel by author/illustrator duo Stevens Butler and Lenton will be thrilled to know that the delightfully madcap fantasy series is back with You Ain't Seen Nothing Yeti, and it does not disappoint! We return to the leading hotel destination for magical creatures, situated on Brighton's seafront, yet hidden from human eyes by an enchantment where once again young Frankie Bannister leads us into a world of trolls, witches, bogrunts, puddle nymphs and all manner of fantastical beings. The hotel is poised for the annual highlight in the magical calendar: the summer holiday of Trogmanay. So when a fearsome snowstorm sweeps across the sea and engulfs the hotel and its residents, bringing with it a family of friendly yetis, strange things begin to take place at the Nothing To See Here Hotel. Could it have something to do with cantankerous leprechaun Maudlin Maloney who has flown in on a gypsy caravan towed by chickens? There is humour galore to be enjoyed in the pages of this fast-paced adventure and the author's inventive use of language makes this an ideal choice for reading aloud. Steven Lenton's illustrations really complement the text, bringing the charm of the characters to life, and short, punchy chapters add to the book's appeal to young readers tackling 'chapter books' for the first time. I particularly enjoyed the funny little asides between author and reader, as well as the brilliant opening pages displaying 'Trolliday Reviews' in the style of Tripadvisor and a letter inviting the reader on a relaxing hotel break. Readers at my school are already loving The Nothing To See Here Hotel and I feel sure that this wintry read will fly off the shelves. I look forward to reading more from this talented author/illustrator team. 236 pages / Ages 7+ / Reviewed by Emily Marcuccilli, school sibrarian
