ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021

14th Jan 21

We're thrilled to announce that Mini Grey (The Last Wolf, Traction Man) will judge the ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021, where we challenge children and young people aged 4-18 years to create a picture book on or around World Book Day.

The competition will launch on Monday 18th January, when further details will be available, and will close on Friday 23rd April. The winners will be announced in early June 2021.

It is open to individual children, libraries and schools internationally.

Many schools and libraries choose to run the project on or around World Book Day March 2021, to give a focus to children themselves as authors and illustrators.

Resources and filmed tips from Mini Grey will be available from January to help children get started with their picture book projects.

The categories will include:
Young Creators (4-7 years)
Primary Category (7-11 years)
Secondary Category (11-18 years)

There is an additional Achievement Award for schools that have shown a big commitment to the picture book competition.

The winners of each category will win £100 for their school library, plus a free online author event for their school.

All the schools that take part will receive a certificate and feedback from the judges.

We look forward to reading your entries!
