ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021

21st Feb 21

We're challenging children and young people aged 4-18 years to create a picture book on or around World Book Day, with the launch of the ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021! Author and illustrator Mini Grey (The Last Wolf, Traction Man) will judge this year's competition!

The ReadingZone Picture Book competition will run from January to Friday 23rd April. The winners will be announced in early June 2021.

The competition is open to individual children, libraries and schools internationally.

Many schools and libraries choose to run the project on or around World Book Day, 4th March 2021, encouraging children and young people as authors and illustrators.

Our judge, Mini Grey, provides tips and guidance with video resources, below, helping children to get started with their picture book projects.

The competition categories include:

Young Creators (4-7 years)

Primary Category (7-11 years)

Secondary Category (11-18 years)

There is an additional Achievement Award, chosen by the ReadingZone judges, for schools that have shown a significant commitment to the picture book competition.

The winners of each Category will win £100 of books for their school library, plus a free online author event for the overall winner.

All the schools that take part will receive a certificate and feedback from the judges.

We look forward to reading your entries!
